Just finished the first novel. Awesome. Hadn't even really noticed the author name until I finished and my kindle opened the about the author page and I saw a fashionable gentleman in a smoking jacket.

Note from Scott: Well I'm glad you enjoyed it

Pre-ordered your book a long time ago. It just showed up on my Kindle. Woot!

I though Shakespeare was a slightly better author. Also Dune and Ender's Game seemed a little more intellectual. If we ignore those "outlier" authors, you're the best!

Keep up the writing. I will make you rich at $4.99 a book. :-)

Ahhh... I remember hating my naps, followed by waking up from my nap. Mom said that she was not above using paregoic on us, even though she does feel bad about it now.

I just finished your first book and absolutely loved it! I cant wait to read the second. I just found this comic now because of the book too. Good work!

Congrats on releasing the second novel. Been looking forward to it. Moved to the top of my reading list. I hope you enjoyed writing it so we can count on a third.

Given Amazon's wildly monopolistic practices recently, any methods of purchasing that don't go through them?

Note from Scott: I wouldn’t be doing business with Amazon if I thought they were evil, but I understand there are those who disagree.

Spell or High Water is available for preorder at elliotbaybook.com ( http://bi4.us/1jzriEw ) and Powell’s (http://bi4.us/1lWkDZJ ). I assume this means that they don't have their stock yet. The book only launched yesterday. It is available now at Barnes and Noble.com ( http://bi4.us/1lWgJA6 ), who appear to have it in stock in paperback and two forms of audiobook.

That said, I do have to point out that my publisher, 47North, is an imprint of Amazon, so there is no means of buying the book that won’t benefit Amazon in some way. At least you’d be supporting a part of Amazon that is made up of good, pleasant people who helped me improve my first book and made it much easier to write the second and third. Doing so might encourage them to give a chance to more small, unproven writers like me.

I don't mean to brag (I am definately about to) but I can nap for 24 hours straight. I don't understand how people can't just go back to sleep as I am fairly good at it with little to no training.

Just finished the new one. Was that a Princess Bride reference from Ampyx toward the end?

Note from Scott: Most likely.

I'm about 20% into the 2nd book. Can't believe you mentioned the little donut shop again. I work in downtown Seattle; now I have to go to the Market and get some. When my cholesterol spikes, I'll be sure to tell my wife who is to blame.

Just finished Spell or High Water and it was fantastic. I absolutely loved it. Keep it up, Mr. Meyer!

Note from Scott: Thanks!

I found this comic far too amusing; probably because I am the mother to two (soon to be three) children and the school year just ended. Yeah, a nap would be great.

Thanks for pointing out that the book is released! I had already intended to buy it, but with the reminder, I bought it today using your affiliate link!

Ordering the paperback Friday, and 2.0 of the first book. I like to compare changes.

Scott... I think there is something amiss.... your Wednesday comic (the one above) never posted on GoComics. Just wanted to let you know, in case you were not aware of the situation.

I enjoyed the first one, and I'll probably read the second over summer at some point. Kindles are great for last minute, impulse buys!

From Heinlein's Notebooks of Lazarus Long: It's remarkable how much mature wisdom resembles being too tired.

And now I'm going to get ready for bed.
