I'm with you. My dignity is not for sale, but I will rent it from time to time.

He always wins, man.

Oh god...panel three almost killed me. I did not see that punchline coming.

"You could hire a scapegoat. That's what I did." A win for the mullet-haired boss? And I do have to admit I saw where it was going and still laughed. Phrasing...

By the gods, I was just thinking of getting a new job, it's a very difficult decision and you present THIS! What timing!

And it's pure comic in every panel!

Oldbear: Did mullet haired boss just win?

Not sure - but Scott definitely lost.

Mullet haired boss wins a lot it seems...

By the way I've been hunting the archives (oh the pain! Poor little me! :-D) to try and find a particular comic. It was something along the line of "how to scare someone" I THINK, and one of the panels has Scott pretending to be pregnant. Anyone remember it? Thanks!

Panel 2 makes no sense... since when do you respect Rick? :o

I thought the point was that even when Scott thinks he wins Mullet Boss really wins. This time he really, really wins.

Panel three. Ow.

I quit in 1990 and haven't looked back. Yeah, I can never rest because I always have to be putting new work into the pipeline but it makes for a much more satisfying life. So much for Scott's idea of dignity.

Scapegoat from Merriam-Webster online:
1: a goat upon whose head are symbolically placed the sins of the people after which he is sent into the wilderness in the biblical ceremony for Yom Kippur
2a : one that bears the blame for others
b : one that is the object of irrational hostility

I can see all three definitions applying here...

I can sympathize with Scott. I'd love to quit, but I'm too addicted to food, shelter, health benefits, etc.

July 3, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMike N

Gee, for just a moment i thought the theme was Scott was quitting his job cuz he was making a decent living just from his comics....
