How to Make Conversation With a New Friend

In this week's very special installment of Asking the Wrong Guy, Rick's advice goes beyond being merely incompetent, and actually becomes irresponsible and dangerous! Don't miss it! If you have a problem, and would like Rick's "input,", please, send him an e-mail!

Oh my God. Panel Three for the ULTIMATE WIN. Four comes in a distant second, but only because I saw it a mile away.

Oh my God. Panel Three for the ULTIMATE WIN. Four comes in a distant second, but only because I saw it a mile away. And since Sunday was the 50th anniversary of Валенти́на Влади́мировна Терешко́ва's first female in space, let us praise Bonnie Dunbar for her achievements as well. If I am not mistaken, she was the last female to fly Challenger before that fateful day in 1986, but I have been wrong before.

All right, that's... pretty random

June 18, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterNH

Well she's just a whole lot of Cat Lady, isn't she?

June 19, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMatthew

Panel 3 - sheer bliss!

I like your LOUD FRIEND. Can you ask her where she gets her cardigans, please?

June 19, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterPaddy

Wow, new character who would be most annoying if encountered in real life, but is just funny within a comic strip.

June 19, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMarco

Laughing hard right now.

I KNEW Allison wouldn't disappoint! Thank you, Mr. Meyer.

Wow, for such a small town, Sunnyside has produced quite a few notable citizens - according to Wikipedia entry

June 19, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterKevin A Kunreuther

...AND SHE SHOUTS A LOT.
Calm down, Al.

June 19, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterLen

I think we need to meet Al's friend MR. GARBAGECAN.

June 19, 2013 | Unregistered Commentermohrorless

Shouldn't it be Farthest?
so if Oregon is jealous of Cali, is Washington jealous of Oregon? :D

June 19, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterstickler

Is she the female Gilbert Gottfried?

June 19, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterboB

I hope the "BI Allison" is a severely exaggerated version of the real-life Allison. Oh, how I hope so.
I mean, I know somebody who has the voice, and I know somebody who has the personality, but put them together? shudder

Frank (rude and loud) and lively (annoying and loud), but not vivacious (fat and loud).
I think I might last three seconds with her before my head exploded.

So is Scott having to "entertain" this... creature... while Missy gets ready to go do something with her, or has Missy arranged one of those spousal "play-dates" for grown adults?

Hmmm. This is coming out all kinds of stabby. Allison is rubbing me all kinds of the wrong way.

Sometimes you laugh at the first panel. Sometimes you laugh at the last panel. But sometimes you laugh at every single panel.

NICE JOB THERE MEYER!

HI! NEW FRIEND!

June 19, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterSheherazahde

I love the new art for Allison. Did she have trouble standing still long enough to get her caricatures 'traced' into Scott's library?

Wow. I've known people like Allison. They're terrible to talk with, but funny to watch other people talk to. Panel three is great, but I can't believe people are siding with Panel 3 and 4 over Panel 2... A whole country's worth of Oregon. That's totally amazing and awesome.

June 19, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterDrowlord

And once again, I will have Paul Simon in my head all day from the "call me Al" line....

Meyer, you are the master of the subliminal song bomb. Curse you.

And the cardigan, strange. Don't forget the cardigan . . .

June 19, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterPaddy

Strictly speaking Valentina Tereshkova is the first woman in space, Laika was the first female.

June 19, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterSnails

Wow, Sunnyside sounds a lot like Ohio.

June 19, 2013 | Unregistered Commenteruwg

I'm from Ohio, the birthplace of aviation. We invented planes, and have the most astronauts, something about this state makes you want to leave the PLANET.

June 19, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterBen Pasko

I think the best part was the end of panel one. "Those were good times."

June 19, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterAdam

demented. I know her well.

June 19, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterdeimos

Reminds me of the old joke as to why so many astronauts were from Ohio...

June 19, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterBWM

I lived Canada for five years. I considered it wealthier than the USA.
And it's only gotten better since then. But then, why would I argue with Al?

June 20, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterScott

Allison is a great new addition to the strip, and look forward to seeing more interactions between Scott and her.

June 20, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterJason

Trying to imagine Al meeting Mullet Boss, someday, with Scott caught in the middle.

The horror ... the horror

June 20, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMark W

Al is a scary "new friend" and I think khereva may be onto something. Would love to see the Knifeketeer discharge her, somehow.

I'm also a bit perturbed that someone else has stolen my handle here in the comments.

June 20, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterBI Fan

Something tells me Al and Rick are gonna have a date soon.

June 20, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterOBH

Al and Athena, teaming up on... Rick, Mullet Boss, Jenkins, the customer... the mind wobbles with possibilities

June 21, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterbill

Panel 4: I get it...

Let's NAME INANIMATE OBJECTS MR. OR MRS. whatever-it-is BECAUSE DOING THAT WOULD BE HILARIOUS, as would typing it in all-caps.
