I've said it before, but it bears repeating, "Missoula: We like it here!" was actually the city of Missoula's slogan at one time. "Reno is for Clydes" is just my personal opinion.
Thanks as always for using my Amazon Affiliate links (US, UK, Canada).
Does that mean that MulletBoss's real name is Clyde?
2006? I bet that's a record for the longest time between original and rerun dates for you.
My wife and I are the opposite of you and Missy - she's the one who wants everything planned and I prefer the spur of the moment.
What's a Clyde?
Note from Scott: A Melvin. A square. A stiff. It's Rat Pack era slang, which fits Reno to a T.
That's a new 'do' for Mrs Scott, unless I'm even more unobservant than I think I am.
Note from Scott: No, it's a very old do.
What's wrong with this strip? Missy looks weird! Was it drawn by somebody else, or is Scott using new software or something?
Note from Scott: It's a rerun from the first year I was doing the comic. It hopefully will be the last rerun for a while.
Rerun or not, "irregular log flume" is a priceless line.
Prince George's County in Maryland made very nice stone signs that they placed all around the area declaring it to be "A Livable Community". I was absolutely dumbfounded that anyone thought this was a good idea. Also, if you know anything about certain areas in the county, you know that even that is a stretch.
so let me get this straight, in 7 years your wife has gotten a wiser, more sophisticated look and you're still bald and wearing a black t-shirt?
THE COPYRIGHT IS WRONG! It isn't 2006!
Scott seems to change his attitude to holidays quite dramatically somewhere between the first and second panels.
Scott's definition of "Clyde" noted, but before I saw that, I'd googled it and found myself on an urban dictionary page with 7 definitions, including:
1. Constantly Leaves You Deliriously Excited.2. A man with a kind heart who has done some bad things in the past.3. Yet another term for marijuana.4. Derogatory for a red headed person, referring to Clint Eastwood's pet orangutan Clyde from "Every Which Way but Loose".
You should've reworked it a little. ...like, use the same frame sizes and fonts you use now. Still great, though.
I think that in the first panel, Scott was acknowledging that in the end, Missy will be in charge.
OMG, Rick is a were-Missy!
This isn't who I think it is...no...couldn't be! Still... No. http://www.cracked.com/photoplasty_551_24-details-that-would-make-video-games-too-realistic_p24/#23Yet, the resemblance. No. Still...
Re: Reno is for Clydes, we have a similar 'nickname' for soft nowts round here - we call them 'Rodneys'
(Usually it is applied to upper class twits and similar over-privileged inbred twonks)
Is Missy's T-shirt from the 1980's? (Something about the trim on the collar and shirt sleeves.)
p.s. love the Death Valley slogan.
The second panel blurb begins with a lower-case "F".
I expected better! : )
It's fun to see these older ones. With the exception of Scott's spelling and grammar, I think I like this retro strip just a little bit better. From now on, if you must run an older strip, stick to these early classics.
Reno is for Clydes. I'm gonna use that line next time I hear anyone mention Reno.
@kherva Missy has way better hair.
See I'm a mix when it comes to this stuff. I don't mind walking around, finding cool stuff to do randomly. But if there's something I definitely want to do, is in the general area, and I know about it ahead of time? I'd like to do it. Which involves keeping track of time and knowing when to head down there.
I looked at the difference in Scott's attitude between panels 1 and 4 as a device for blowing off overly inquisitive coworker.
"Irregular Log Flume" is my new band name.
"And that's why I wrote down where the day will take us in this schedule. See?" is one of my favorite BI lines ever. It sounds like something I would say/do -- I definitely cannot relax without a plan. I'm always dreading what will come next without it.
I just noticed another use of “…for Clydes”!
