Every pane of this made me laugh really hard. I don't think one of your comics has made me do that in a long time. Bravo on a highly amusing and entertaining piece.
Oh, God, I lurved this one! Another awesome chance to work Trek references into everyday life. Can't wait to try it out the very next time I see somebody in costume. Been a fan for years, Scott. Your comics really are helping me get through this aught-generation-slump. Whoohoo, keep'em comin!
this comic fails to inform you that the fake-looking monster is the most dangerous of all. note that it is not called the 'fake monster', but the 'fake-LOOKING monster'. the 'zipper' and 'eye hole' markings on his skin serve to lure the unwary into striking range. before you even realize it, he is upon you!
I distinctly recall Scott saying that he could not draw, and, thus, all of his comics were solely done by tracing pictures he'd taken of people in real life.
This in mind, who or what was the base template for the Snake Ape, and the apparently more powerful Robo Snake Ape?
The Title in the RSS feed sold me. I was far from disappointed. The question remains. Did you actually build a snake ape monster , photograph it, rotoscope it? We got to see the photos. Snake-ape and robo-snake ape costumes would be hot ebay items.
@Holly: Next Halloween costume? Which one: Snake Ape or Robo Snake Ape?
"Ah, a Trogdor costume" was the FIRST thing I thought of when I looked at panel 1 of this strip. I cannot believe it wasn't at least partially inspired by the beefy-armed burninator.
I like how Robo Snake Ape has a viewing slit rather than eyeholes, but it still has a zipper.

This thought occurred to me today. You, or at least, cartoon you, would look pretty dang epic in a viking helmet.
I don't know why I thought of this. If it's from an earlier comic or something, feel free to flame me, guys.
I think I just found my next Halloween costume.
Not to be confused with the rubberized, mechanical trouser snake that your wife/girlfriend may be fighting this very minute.
I just finished reviewing Gamera vs. Barugon and the latest MST3K release, so the timing of this cartoon was perfect.
"Just like Captain Kirk." Sounds to me like someone thinks Picard was the better captain. Also, great job.
Hmmm, snake, eyehole, zipper, two-handed over the head, "snot" beaten out of you. Freud would have a blast with that one.

Hahaha..... Trogdor?

TROGDOR!!! (Burninating all o' the peoples...)
The S is for Sucks
I have never commented here but I just wanted to make sure that someone else had caught the Trogdor similarity besides me :)
Consummate V's! I said consummate!
"Let's put one of those beefy arms back on him! Yeah, that's nice... Coming out of the back of his neck..."

I'm glad I'm not the only one who immediately though "Trogdor!" Please tell us you're a fan, Scott!
What Jon said - a classic.

Trogdor was a man!
Or maybe he was a Dragonman!
Or..maybe he was...just a Dragon...
But he was still TROGDOOOOOOOOOOR!
Epic stuff.
I'm glad I'm not the only person who thought of Trogdor
