Now how will I know for sure what year it is Scott? How will I know?!
I'll be like a fresh time traveller, bewildered and dazed, asking random passerbys for the date, and getting only wild stares. All because of one number. Curse you Scott Meyer. Curse you.
Haven't posted in awhile but I'm sure to start posting with increasing regularity now that I've been warned there will be discrepancies between the copyright date and the actual date. I can't believe it's not still 1999 - I'm still partying like it!
LOVE the PSA, btw, as well as the Instruction. Perfect.
Oooh, next PSA - When people comment that the strip is a repeat because they forgot that it was on Cracked that they saw it before (thats cracked.com not the crack cocaine)
I read this comic whilst Kashmir by Led Zepplin was on the radio, which gave it an even more disturbing and "building up to the apocalypse" feel. Splendid.
copyright extends from the life of the author, I think 75 years from death in the US, but I'm not in the US so ask a local. I'll leave you to connect the dots - think of the children! Also women tend to live longer than men. How's Missy? Do not take your legal advice from people posting on your website.
And yet you will still have people "correcting" you. I suggest you reply to them with a link to this comic, while the rest of us just smirk and point. And let me take this opportunity to say thank you for an excellent comic. Not just this one, but all of them. Take the rest of the day off with pay.

I'm sorry, could you repeat that? I was overwhelmed by the smoking jacket.
Wait, you mean there are comics above the copyright date?
Doesn't effect me, I cut that bit out when I resize the comics for the "Simple Howto" book I am compiling.
Just do what I do at the beginning of each year: Print out a copy of the offending comic and correct the copyright date by hand with a Sharpie.
Problem solved!
OMG! At the bottom of this page it says: "Copyright © 2009, Scott Meyer. All rights reserved."
2009!!! DON'T TELL ME TO CALM DOWN!!!
Sharpie. Simple and artistic. What? No it's not being lazy! It's artistic and...uh...stuff.
Have you considered starting a range, like 2010-2012 (since the world ends in 2012 that will be a convenient range.) Just a suggestion.
Love the new pose in panels 3 and 4. Is it fear you see in his eyes? Disgust? Constipation? A seizure? I don't know, but it's awesome. Nicely done!!
You should have told them to liquid paper the correction on their monitors.

I would love to see more of suave/angry hand shaking expression from panel 3/4
Wow, I can totally see this PSA backfiring and crashing your email this coming January...! ;)

Of course you realize, this will only make it worse
@Judas P
Calm down.
The details are unimportant.
/sarc off
I would note that it is not a new pose, it is merely unbridled hedonism without chicken or monopoly.
I was expecting a fundraising appeal so you could afford to get the copyright date changed. Maybe next year.
I just hope this doesn't lead to a slew of "OMG! Teh copayrite is rong lulz" posts come the first comic of 2011.
On another note, I really enjoyed this strip. It made me laugh pretty hard!
I laughed out loud at every panel !
It bugs me too Scott, Thanks for this highly informative and educational PSA

You should have had Rick do the announcement. We all know he's the real star of the strip.
The comments are almost as good as the comic itself. Except this one...

You put the date on which it was created. You don't ever update the date on a piece of art.
nice!
Why don't you change it to (cc) 2011? Copyright is so last century.
No, seriously, consider it.
Why is the Automobile Association sponsoring people?
Man, you are a GENIUS!
Frame 1: Dr. Scott Evil (Meyer), Austin Powers' nemesis.

In the picture for panels 3 and 4, your nose looks rather long. Just thought I'd point that out to you my good sir
How to Tamper with a Copyright for Fun and Profit
is anyone else getting a Lex Luthor vibe off of Scott in this strip?
BWWWAAAAHAAAAAAAA
Or am i just going to be made an offer i cant refuse?
Good strip by the way
This is one of the funniest copyright dates you've written. I fell on the floor when I got to the ©.

*applauds* Nicely done, Scott! The price of fame you are paying now! *nods*
I suppose that making such a comic would only make everyone even more crazy about the copyright date just to mock you.
In panel 3, I think you mean "impartial" instead of "impactful". I'm relatively sure that "impactful" isn't even a word.
I'm confused. If you're going into the future and making them ahead of time itself, then why doesn't it already have a copyright of 2011?
Just Kidding!
