In the hands of a skilled technician, it's very difficult to manipulate them.

But since we're talking about his boss here, I'm going to agree with you in this case.

What movie did I see where he had a tack or something-- a ring, perhaps, and he kept pressing it into his flesh every time he answered a question so that he looked like he was lying every time or something. Blast. Can't remember.

Lie detectors are so unreliable that they're not admissible in court. That I've heard, anyway.
