This comic perfectly describes how every cat I've ever known and I have interacted. I still talk to them like they're human, because a good cat is superior to most humans by so far it's not even funny.
sadly, this is the same technique i use to discipline my toddler. really wish my husband had said yes to getting a cat instead of a baby.

I have three cats that do this, and one of them wants to be pet but is reluctant to let me pet him. I guess being born and spending a month in the basement does that to you.
