Option 4: Insist only on restaurants that, when bringing the bill, ask if/how you would like it split.
@Storm: That cuts out every single restaurant I've ever been to.
I must look super cheap, cuz I only get asked "how would you like to split that?' when I'm with a woman. Fortunately only with friends, this has never happened to me on an actual date... when I actually want separate bills.
If you're going to have a childish staring contest, it may as well be for money.
