Were you playing Super Contra? Good choice.
But yeah man, beating up the helicopter IS easy.
That last panel reminds me of Sonic 3. To get to the level select menu, you had to enter a code during the opening animation leading to the title screen. Meaning you had about a half a second to press Up, Up, Down, Down, Up, Up, Up, Up and have all of those register properly.
I completely agree with you on the whole 'beat up the helicopter. it's easy!' part of the walkthrough. I always read walkthroughs and they act like even the hardest task is simple. The most annoying part is when they skimp on the details because they think it's self-explanatory.
I thought maybe he was talking about Viewtiful Joe or Devil May Cry 2, since those are the only games I know of where you actually have to beat up helicopters as opposed to shooting them.
No you didn't. All you had to do is grab the vines in the first level then input the code. You had the whole level to get the code right.
My guess is that would be "Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction" that he's playing, aside from the fact that Mercenaries didn't have difficulty levels; I wish it did have higher levels of difficulty, because I played through that game so many times that I could probably do it in my sleep.
My next guess is that this refers to the helicopter in the "Acid Queen" mission at the Chemical Weapons Plant in the far NE corner of the North Province?
No reference to memory editing?
Who's the lady? It's not an early Missy, is it?
Konami code perhaps?up up down down left right left right b a
A more or less universal easter egg cheat code at this point.
I also must, inexplicably, transcribe my agreement that it is exasperating when a walk-through's advice is to, "Do that part, then continue on." "I CAN'T CONTINUE BECAUSE I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO!"
I play video games on the easy setting and enjoy them. My brother plays them on the hard setting and gets frustrated that he has trouble doing anything. Since the point of video games is to have fun, I am better at video games than my brother.
