For some reason, the guy's face in the third panel is my most favorite drawing you've done of him. He looks truly terrified.

Your expression in panel 3 is perfect.

December 8, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMark Gardner

Oh my god. The expression on your face in panel 3 just cracked me up. Awesome strip as always!

December 8, 2008 | Unregistered Commenter9Squirrels

:O Exactly. Panel 3 is fantastic.

December 8, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterKirby-oh

Another vote for "best expression ever in the strip" here. And the hand!

The expression on your face in panel #3 is priceless. I love it :)

I couldn't even focus on the rest of this comic because I started thinking about Big Bird's left arm and how, yes, it always HAS just hung there.

December 8, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterK.T. Slager

Er, right arm. Whatever.

December 8, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterK.T. Slager

Then won't the birds seek revenge?

December 8, 2008 | Unregistered Commentertri1

I concur... In my mind I can hear the involuntary strangled squawk that goes with that face.

December 8, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterRolaran

That third panel is absolutely priceless, can't stop laughing at Scott's horrified expression!

December 8, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterScott

I agree with the rest of the agreers (is that a word?). Panel 3 is coffee-spewing perfect.

December 8, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterNonchalant Savant

Hahah, God that third panel is great. Glad I'm not the only one to acknowledge it.

December 8, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterBobman

Whoa nelly, that look on you in the third panel is almost hair-raising!

As good as the face is in the third panel, it's really the clawed left hand of sheer terror that pulls off the overall effect. A point I feel pressed to make only because I couldn't be the first one to mention the face thing.

If there ever comes a comic that combines both the visual guffaws of this third panel and the unexpectedly bold wit of "ROFG", I am quite sure the world will implode.

December 8, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterSimon

I came to the comments for the first time to express my chortling joy at panel 3 only to find I'm not alone--or first.

December 8, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterDouglas

PANEL 3!! baahahahaa woooh =p can't stop, laughing, hurts, to laugh, bye.

December 8, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMr

Nice . . . His face is kinda funny, but not as funny as Cookie Monster. Supposedly, snce he had to switch to vegtables in the Strret show, he joined an emo screamo band. He's singing "I want a cookie" but since it's emo screamo, you can barely tell. But his face is up there! . . .

December 8, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterizzy_wolfe_13

You can add me to the list of people who laughed out loud at the third panel.

December 8, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterTayrtahn

I also loved that third panel... That's one that you'll definitely have to find a use for in future strips!

December 8, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMatt

This is silly. Some _small_ birds eat grapes and figs, but a large bird's beak wouldn't fit in your eye socket. Such birds would rather gnaw on your liver.

December 8, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterRob

How about an entire 4 panels all showing the same expression? :D

December 8, 2008 | Unregistered Commenter9Squirrels

Panel 3 may be the best drawing ever.

Haha...I came in to post that panel 3 was priceless, but people have beat me to it.

The chair clutching really adds another dimension to it.

Great job, I bought your book and 4 copies for my friends :)

December 9, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterChris

We need that expression as a wallpaper. Or a poster. Or a shirt.

December 9, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterAxiomatic

Have to agree - panel 3 expression - Gold. Great cartoon, cracks me up.

December 9, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterDan

I came to the comments just to see if everyone else laughed as hard as I did at panel #3... HILARIOUS!

December 9, 2008 | Unregistered Commenteradam

Whoever said that your long joke setups need to be shortened was wrong... the first two panels set that third one up perfectly.

December 9, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMatt

(Spoiler Alert!!) I would guess that big birds right arm just hangs there because the guy inside the bird is using his right arm to operate the head.

I have to say it like everyone else: third panel is full of awesome!

December 9, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterBrian

The expression in panel 3 is made 53% funnier by the simultaneous and nonchalant "I stand corrected."

December 9, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterBoT

Didn't Big Bird suffer a stroke or something? Shouldn't make fun of his condition.
I'm sure your favorite scary movie would be "The Birds"

December 9, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJames Yeamans

I gotta join in with everybody else on this one... really well done with panel 3's facial expression.

December 9, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterRich G.

I also laughed very hard at panel 3. However, I mostly found this comic funny because I am also terrified of birds.

December 9, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMando

I believe I do recall this conversation when I once expressed my dislike for birds as well.

December 10, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterChels

Gotta say, good strip. Well-made. Panel 4 was actually what sold me, believe it or not. It reminds me of a similar experience with a friend of mine.

December 10, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterAnother Rob

Horseshoe Crabs. One of God's little mistakes.

December 10, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterSomnombolist

Yes, yes, it is ALL about panel #3!!! This comic could be about my irrational fear of butterflies!! (almost) no one understands ;_;

December 10, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterdofnup

Dear God, no comic makes me laugh out loud harder than B.I. does. And Scott, the comments you attribute to your wife are priceless. "Awoken prematurely by cat or spouse? CHECK!" LOL gold, man. Panel 3 *is* awesome - I read the text balloon before letting my eyes scroll down to see your expression. Coffee-spewing, indeed!

December 11, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterBob Barbanes

Fear sucks.
