First, for those of you who don’t know who Bob Ross was, here’s a taste.

Fans of Wil Wheaton (There’s a divisive way to start a sentence! There are two possible reactions, you either ask “Are there fans of Wil Wheaton?” or you immediately say “I am a fan of Wil Wheaton, please proceed.”) will remember that I made him an Infini-Tee which was given to him as a gift by Paul and Storm. Well, an iPhone developer named Michael Zoellner has made the following, which I think is the coolest thing I’ve seen in a very long time.

The Amazon links (US, UK, Canada) continue to bring in extra cash, as does the donation button, thanks to all of you. The subscription service continues to gain ground at a gradual but gratifying … (what’s a word for “rate” that starts with a G? Think Meyer, THINK!) … rate. We're up over 250 subscribers!

Yes, I know I said I was going to start making weekly announcements about the subscription service rather than mentioning it every post, but it was pointed out to me that people who read the RSS feed were hearing about the service without seeing the place where you actually sign up for it. So, I’ve embedded the subscribe button below. Enjoy, and thanks for your patience and support!

How to Figure Out What It Means

Basic Instructions is generously sponsored by Bacon, Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms Explosives: The blog about livin’ la vida Northern Idaho!

The subscriptions continue to climb, slowly but steadily.

I’ve received far more donations than I ever expected but the big news is the Amazon Affiliate link (US, UK and Canada), which in the first twelve days of this month made more money than my conventional ads did in all of last month.

I’ve said thank you so many times in the last two weeks that I fear the words have lost their meaning, but I’m going to say it one more time. Thank you for the support.

How to Appraise an Antique or Collectable

Slow, steady progress continues on the sponsorship front. At the moment we’re just shy of 30%.

I’m thinking that instead of haranguing you with every single comic I post, I will somehow incorporate the progress bar into the corner of the site and then just harangue you once a week. I’ll probably enact that change sometime next week. In the meantime, please know that your support in the form of subscriptions, use of the Amazon affilate links (US, UK, and CANADA) and donations has been extremely helpful and I really appreciate it.

Status report:

The website sponsorships start today. Please show the sponsor some love. He seems a good guy, and the whole sponsoring Basic Instructions thing was, in fact, his idea.

The Amazon Affiliate Links (US, UK, Canada) are performing quite well, which actually means that you all are performing quite well. The Affiliate links are an unusual way of getting support in that they cost the reader nothing, but they require the reader to remember to use them. I hope you know I appreciate you keeping me in mind.

Donations are way, way up. I suspect it’s due to readers wanting to support me but not wanting to be saddled with a monthly fee. I can relate to that, and I’m grateful for all the support I have received.

One week after announcing the subscription service, we are well over 25% of the way to our goal!

I expect the progress will be slower from this point on, but I’m thrilled with the speed of our progress so far. I never expected this to be a quick process.

To sum up, the help and support I’ve received in the last week has amazed me, and I continue to be the luckiest person I know.
