A short break.

For the record, I'm taking the week between Christmas and New Years off. I'll be back with new strips on January 1st, 2007. See you then!

No strip today, but here's some Santo!

I have a new wrestling mask. Here's why it's awesome.

A little news.

I just wanted to take a moment to pass on a few pieces if info. Last week, I completed my 50th Basic Instructions strip. I know, milestones like this are meaningless to begin with, and 50 isn't a very large number, but one of my goals for the website was to have enough old strips posted that a reader couldn't comfortably read the entire backlog in one sitting. I think I'm closing in on that goal. Also, the Basic Instructions Store is now open. There's an obvious link to it on my home page(www.basicinstructions.net). If you get a second, please go take a look. Soon I'll also have a news blog on the BI website, but it's not quite ready yet. Thanks.

It is done!

The new site is up and running. www.basicinstructions.net All of my old material is there now. I start posting the new* stuff on Monday. I don't quite have the feed issues sorted out yet, so for the time being new strips will be cross posted there and here. Thanks again everybody for all of the encouragement. *The first 4 "new" strips were done in mid 2005 and never posted because, like I said earlier, I didn't want to do this unless I was going to do it right.

uh,....um,.....AHEM.....

I am re-launching Basic Instructions, and I am determined to do it right this time. A while back I came to a realization that of all the creative things I had done in the last 5 years, Basic Instructions had by far given me the most satisfaction. I have purchased a domain name, I am setting up a site, and I've already produced some new Basic Instructions strips, which will be posted as soon as the site is ready. I'm going to start with 2 a week, but I hope to increase the volume after some fine tuning. Until the new site is ready, I'm going to post a few strips from a submission I did for a mainstream, syndicated daily strip called "Guy." In the end I did 70 strips and submitted 50 of them. Now I am the owner of a matched collection of rejection letters, and that doesn't bug me one bit. The lessons I learned about art technique and scheduling doing "Guy" are what's making the re-launch of Basic Instructions possible Thanks for your time.
