I don't enjoy reruns any more than you do.

Sorry for the rerun today. Had out of town guests and am cranking on the book. There’ll be fresh material on Sunday night/Monday morning.

Here’s my plan for the next few months:

September-Finish Second Book (It’s going well, btw!)

Early October-A little surprise for Halloween

Late October/November-Holiday Infini-Tees.

Do all of this without disruption to the comic’s posting schedule.

Speaking of shirts, two new shirts are available in my store. One’s about laziness, the other’s about environmentalism. I hope you like them.

Could you pick out a lazy man tshirt for me/ (too lazy to press shift to make the question mark)
btw, reruns of your comic are better than 95% of the rest of the stuff out there.

" I don’t enjoy reruns any more than you do."

Well maybe you should, since it means you get to do something better than drawing another comic!

It's probably just me, but I can't find a posting schedule anywhere on your site. And why should you inflict one on yourself, when you do it all for free?

Webcomics like http://www.achewood.com get updated as and when the artist's completely happy with the new strip. On the other hand, though i still love Dilbert and read it every day, I think the fact that Scott Adams *has* to write a new strip every day whether or not he's got a great idea to make into a great strip has a negative affect on the quality of the comic.

"effect", not "affect". Please don't hurt me, spelling Nazis.

I like reruns too! On the train today I was looking at the iPhone BI app, chuckling about How to Explain Yourself to a Doctor. "How many 'e's are there in 'heebie jeebies'?"

For the record, this is my all time favorite Basic Instructions, and the one I point new readers to.

I only just realized that there's a T-shirt for this one. This just made my day.

Congrats again on the second book! My sincerest (is that a word?) hope is that you will try to cram more of your comments along the bottom of the strips. That was my favorite part of the last book, getting a terrifying glimpse into the creator's mind!

Thanks for the apology for running the rerun, but we don't need anymore of an explanantion than your were just too busy (or lazy). Remember, The Details Are Unimportant !!!

The rerun will be a lot more appreciated if the next new comic is a brand new Rocket Hat. That way it's not laziness, it's preparation for the readers!

This strip/episode, in particular, causes my wife some problems.
In public, I often use the phrase "The details are unimportant!" to attempt to identify other Basic Instructions readers.
My wife hates you because of this.

@Workaphobia: Really? This one? As an occassional insertion, silly comics are okay, but for the most part, I pretend that these bizarre infractions on reality don't exist. While most of the Basic Instructions comics are easy to share, I'd never refer anyone to this particular strip.
