Can you believe that last comic I forgot to thank you all for using my Amazon Affiliate links (US, UK, Canada)? I'll have to make up for it by thanking you all a second time for using my Amazon Affiliate links (US, UK, Canada).
The English humourist Alan Coren was told be his publisher that humor books didn't sell very well. Golf books did, as did books about cats. Oh, and the Third Reich was a perennially hot topic.
Everybody seems to think they can do better than the successful artists they represent... ...Until you ask them why they don't want to produce works of their own...
(That's the way a lot of good shows get ruined, and a lot of potentially great albums get turned to mush, and so on) Note from Scott: I agree, but it's worth mentioning that this particular comic started as an inside joke between my calendar publisher and me. He has never attempted to exert any editorial control over the content of the comics. Just sayin'.
On a side note, I love my calendar from last year. Occasionally, you'll get ones which you'll swear you never saw before and the rest are just familiar enough to half-remember. Totally worth the cost.
Had you come across Alan Coren's book? That's the first thing I thought of when reading this cartoon. If not, a brilliant case of convergent evolution.
Planes are often named after felines. It would not be so hard to do an entire calendar of planes with cat names with the cat of the name Photoshopped into the picture. For example:
Jan - Meowschmidt 109 Feb - Tomcat Mar - Hellcat Apr - Panther Jun - Jaguar Jul - F9 Cougar Aug - F11 - Tiger Sep - Xian JH-7 Flying Leopard Aug - Bearcat Oct - Wildcat Nov - IAI Kfir (lion cub) Dec - Meowschmidt 262
It'd be a nice internet in joke. The proceeds could be put a feline related charity, or a plane related one.

Hahahahaha!
I presume that the feline in panel 3 is a kittler.

So ... here's what he chose for his front cover. The publisher provided a less-controversial alternative.
I admit I looked up people's versus peoples' after the last flame war.
Anyone else owning up?
Now I want a calendar with kittens flying war planes.

That is so so so funny, I absolutely love it !
Spitfurs, Hurriclaws, lancaster hairballers, messershmitt kometdownfromthattree...
Love panel 3, meow serschmitts lol!
How about an F16 with pylon mounted moggies for missiles?
Excellent comic as usual!
@Soul of Wit: LMAO!

So Scott, your cat moonlights as a Nazi pilot?
Hey. I'd buy it just for that cover!
Kudos on the creative speech bubbles in the third panel. I've never seen that.
The one thing I have noticed about the calendar is how nearly all the panes can stand as a comic by themselves. Keep up the good work.
Hilarious! I am laughing out loud. I'm going to have giggle fits all day from this one.
Schneller, katze! Töten! Töten!
Damn you, Chris Henrich! I was going to write about Alan Coren's book, but you beat me to it.
Still I can claim a record regarding this topic (unless someone decides to pip me) - LAST!
I would buy a calender with kittens and nazi planes actually. However, it would be for my dad, not myself. He likes cats and WWII stuff.

Then there's the Grumman fighters: Wildcat, Tigercat, Tomcat, Panther, Cougar . . . almost a calendar's worth right there!
I want to crerate a J-pop band called the Meow-serschmidts. They would sing in German.
Wunderbar!

@Admiral Antelope Really good puns there, although they take a nose dive in quality after the fourth. Your Hair Meowrshal must be proud.
I would love to see a t-shirt with the art from the third panel in your store.
