You must do a reclaimiad commercials.
You can have the dad with a glass of it says "mmm, goes good with Soylent Green'. Then the wife says "Goes good with Soylent anything, honey.' The the both laugh in a slightly manic way.
Hey! Only one reused pose in the whole comic!
(I'd eat there, by the way)
Can I preorder tickets?
Panel 4 took it into searing social critique.
That said, I'd love to attend a futuristic dinner evening. As long as it didn't involve societal divisions- but I'm just a romantic, I guess.
Fantastic! I wager ten quatloos on the newcomers. Question is, do the Thralls get a trainer with teased blonde hair and a skimpy silver outfit? I'd be on that team if it weren't for those pesky pain collars. . .
George Lucas will now open a Star Wars-themed Futuristic Times thanks to this. (I'd go)
Still can't believe of the 100,000,000 web pages blocked by the Australian Defence Force network...after all these years I'm still reading BI on my lunch breaks.
Hey Scott, if you and your programming hand ever have a spare moment, how about a 'random comic' button? They're great for sifting through for entertainment without going through the inevitable patches of comics that are really famililar.
Overlords and Thralls... how is that futuristic compared to today's society?
Who exactly are these two guys that Scott repeatedly gets to listen to his schemes?
Note from Scott: Their looks are based on the founders of Jet City Improv. Missy used to be a member, ant as such they were subjected to my ideas. They both showed great patience.
The only Thrall I know is from Warcraft. Do you play Warcraft?
Bread and circuses. Nope, the thralls will never fall for that.
My favorite part is your pained expression when you deliver the punchline. And that it sounds like something I would say in everyday conversation. Brilliant as always.
Reminds me of the political trading game Starpower.
How about a futuristic version of 'The Holy Land Experience' complete with a Space Pope, Xeno-Cardinals and tentacle nuns?
The Chosen One: Overlords and Thralls... how is that futuristic compared to today's society?
Their names are accurate.
Liz: As long as it didn't involve societal divisions- but I'm just a romantic, I guess.
But think how spicy it'd be for an Overlord to canoodle with a Thrall! Of course the Thrall would be executed immediately if they were found out, but that just adds to the spice. And probably to the Reclaimaid.
Every B.I. comic is the best, but this one is the most best.
I think I'm getting a little too out of touch with current society to follow BI much of the time. Had no idea what you were alluding to, so I googled "medieval times dinner" and came up with this claim:
"Over the years, Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament has become an iconic part of American culture..."
Wow. Iconic already, but not until BI mentions it do I hear of it.
On second thought, this is one reason for me to keep reading BI. How else will I keep up on the pop culture things I'm expected to know?
It's the first comic with a 2012 watermark!
My excitement. It cannot be contained.
From the Wikipedia "Thrall (Old Norse þræll) was the term for a serf or unfree servant in Scandinavian culture during the Viking Age. Thralls were the lowest in the social order and usually provided unskilled labor during the Viking era."
So actually around a little bit before World of Warcraft.
I also wish to pre-order tickets.
The Chosen One- Yeah, it's not totally futuristic. It's pretty old-fashioned in fact- positively Viking! Literally!
A truely brilliant idea. One question - How will you divide the teams? Will it be random? Will overlord tickets cost more? This needs to be considered.
Don't be sipping coffee when you read the comment about tentacle-nuns. That was almost a spit-take!
mmm....pain collars. Forgot about the pain collars.
Tickets, please?
It's not the first comic with a 2012 copyright. If you were a true copyright connoisseur you would know that, Krills. :p We've visited 2012 before and returned to 2011 and now we're in 2012 again, but will it last? The suspense is suspenseful!

According to Ira Glass, jousting at a Medieval Times restaurant is more popular than public radio in the U.S.

Hm. Let me try again: In the world of today, if you make over a million dollars a year, you're an overlord. If you do not, congratulations, your life is the definition of the word "thrall".
There is an episode of Lexx with a extremely similar premise. Only the "Reclaimed" was called "Pattern". It was also green.
