Second panel is just great.
I love panel 2...
I have to admit, I really like Jenkins too. But I guess it's also from a distance, since I only like him as a character in this webcomic.
It's easier to reject than to be rejected. Jenkins will never know true love ;.;
I just realized that I must be a Jenkins.
In the last panel, Jenkins just looks really short, not really far away. I think it's because his arm is going over the side of the panel, whereas everyone else is behind it.
Absolutely brilliant.
Panel 2 gets high marks for being such an insightful peek into the mind of a jerk.
I like Tiny Foreground Jenkins.
"That's Jenkins curse. He only deals with people who are, at that moment, dealing with Jenkins" Pure, gleaming, 22 carat Inca GOLD.
The second panel really got a big laugh from me. Bravo!
Pannel 2 is made of solid gold. Poor Jenkins, having to deal with people who are dealing with Jenkins... Hell, I think I could almost feel for him! Well... Almost.
Small nitpick though: in the last panel, Jenkins' arm shouldn't go over the panel border, it messes with the perspective, since the other characters appear behind the panel borders but in front of him.
So, why does the copyright line STILL have 2011 on it?
I know there was a comic addressing this issue, but that was in December. Four months ago.
Panel 2 wins the internet.
Panel 2 made me think of this one guy I work with. I'm sure he thinks I always yell at everyone, because whenever he comes to see me for help I always end up yelling at him. He also looks like Jenkins, minus the beard.
I know Jenkin's pain everyone I sit next to on an airplane is sitting next to the fat guy.
Panel two has given me insight into the mind of one of my more annoying friends. Thank you, Scott, for...wait. What am I saying? For years, I've been content to assume he's just an asshole, and now you've made me view the world from his POV! Dammit!
Up yours!
Another useful perspective to take to work along with the energy drink and aspirin. Especially panel 2.
In light of panel 2, I'd love to see a smackdown between Jenkins and Angry Customer.
That must be why I laugh when I read Basic Instructions because, by definition, whenever I am reading Basic Instructions I am laughing. D'oh!
I just made a purchase using your amazon affiliate link, as my little show of appreciation. Keep up the great work.
On a side note, what are your plans once you reach your 800 subscribers goal, aside from the obvious quitting your day job? Will Basic Instructions start coming out more frequently (like on the Tuesdays and Thursdays also)? Or will you just have a lot more time to relax?
Note from Scott: I have a whole laundry list of projects that have been waiting for me to get the time to work on them. Thanks for asking!
Seems that Jenkins is getting a lot of conversation 'wins'.
Haha, I always said this about my dad. The only reason he thinks I'm depressed all the time is because he only sees me when I'm interacting with him, which makes me profoundly depressed.
I admit I was irritated to have to deal with Paypal. But surely supporting an awesome comic is worth it . . . and I'll keep checking back for the awesome comments to the awesome comic that, as an awesome subscriber, I already have. Good work, Scott. I hope you actually make this work for you as a "real" job.
i don't get panel 2...i liked panel 1 more.
Awesome. "Jenkins' Curse" is a name for something that has needed a name forever.
Second panel is an all-time classic.
That Jenkins pic and thought balloon in the last panel should be a T-shirt.
@Scott, @Paula, if Paypal is a bother, and philosophically I’m with you, check out dwolla.com. It’s only $0.25 per transaction over $10 and free for transactions under $10.
No love for panel 3? The feedback analogy is perfect, and the punchline rocks. Or maybe it's just the audio nerd in me. But yeah, panel 2 is quite awesome.
I know a guy at school just like Jenkins. He's called Ian, and everyone except me (Who is still new) hates his guts.
I am Jenkins. :(
