How to Commiserate

And speaking of the business end of things, yes, I do feel kinda cheesy making these statements about my affiliate links at the end of each comic , but they are helping to keep the rest of the site free from display ads.
That said, there's still time to purchase my most recent book (US, UK, Canada) or my 2013 Calendar (US, UK) as gifts. Thanks again for using my Amazon Affiliate links (US, UK, Canada)!

Reader Comments (21)
This is probably too serious for your comments section, but as the parent of a kindergartener I've been pretty upset during the past week. I am not a regular reader but thought of your comics as a distraction and they were just what I needed... Literally laugh out loud funny at a time when very little else worked. So--thanks. I'll count myself a regular reader now.
Hey! This has a 2012 copyright! You clearly said you'll start having 2013 copyrights by now! I hate you, Scott Meyer!
I have to admit that it's not really funny (sorry, Scott), but it does offer insight into things in life.
Panel 3 has a great punchline btw.
Panel 4 gold!
Two wins in a rows for Rick! He's in danger of becoming a winner.
i actually enjoyed this strip.
until i read the comments section, which brought me down.
thanks, guys!
Brady, it's still 2012 (or at least, it is here in the antipodes, don't know if you're on a planet with a shorter year?). Unless Scott has a time machine (which I hope he'll share if he does!), it wouldn't be legal for him to put a 2013 copyright on strips written before 1 Jan 2013. And since few cartoonists write, draw and publish on the same day, I personally don't expect any "2013" strips until about Jan10th. <</end pedant mode>
Twin gems right there, panels 3 & 4!!
Fantastic!
Great comic!
Rick for the win 2 comics in a row! Surely the world is coming to an end!
@AA: um, Brady was just making fun of all those people who yearly complain about the "wrong" copyright date, even though Scott has pointed out on several occasions that he makes his comics up to one month in advance and the date is likely to stay on "2012" until mid/end january.
AA, clearly you must not be a regular reader of BI, otherwise you would realize that Scott does have a time machine. It just happens that it always takes him back to his teenage years vs. today.
Lots of the books & textbooks I've been using in my classes this semester already have 2013 copyrights. And they've been out for months.
Hey, the copyright date on this webpage is 2009!
What gives?
L, you've got the right idea.
The only time it would be wrong to laugh is when you're atually in the presence of someone who is grieving, and might feel belittled.
Otherwise, laughing will not make anything in the world even a little bit worse, and you'll feel better.
Scott, congratulations on being one of the great healers.
Rick gets a win... and "business stick" took me to "business socks" which brought me back to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGOohBytKTU
In short, Scott DOES have a time machine!
I believe that there are some creative folks who have their spouse run all of the business side, but I don't know the divorce rate. I also don't know whether it is more about how they can save on their tax.
We could have a sweep on the publication date of the first 2013 ©
For me, Rick's comment in panel 2 was the zenith of today's cavalcade of genius.
Am I the only one who read the title and immediately imagine a Russian Commisar?
Scott, I'm worried that your 2013 calendar ends on December 31, 2013. What do you know that we don't?
